Rise of
Iranian investors for citizenship in Turkey
Iranian
businesspeople and investors top the list of those who have applied for Turkish
citizenship.
Since
September 19, 2018, 2,700 investors from various countries, including Iran,
have applied for Turkish citizenship, of which 981 have achieved this goal.
According
to Turkish government data, 253 Iranian investors have acquired citizenship
during the said period.
So far,
143 Iraqis, 97 Yemenis, 94 Afghans, 59 Syrians, 58 Palestinians, 57 Jordanians,
45 Egyptians, 21 Chinese, 16 Azeris, 6 Americans, 6 Russians 4 Canadian 4
Italian, 4 Israeli, 2 Ukrainian, 2 English, 2 Irish, One Greek and one
Australian have succeeded.
It is
worth mentioning that the Turkish government is granting citizenship of 500,000
dollars for direct investment. Previously, it was at least 2 million dollars.
This right
will also be awarded to buyers of real estate for 250,000 dollars. The minimum
purchase price of real estate in Turkey for citizenship also decreased from 1
million dollars to 250,000 dollars.
The
requirement to create employment for 100 Turkish citizens is also halved. To
get Turkish citizenship, the minimum three-year deposit in the country’s banks
was reduced from 3 million dollars to 500,000 dollars.
