The
5-passenger train, which has a capacity of 200 passengers, departed from Tehran
on Wednesday (21 July) at 21:50 and reached the Van terminus. 66 Iranian
passengers arrived in the van after 21 hours of traveling to the city center by
car.
The test trip
from Tehran to the city of Van will begin in Ankara next week.
Ali
Tabrizi, Iran’s train chief, said: “The trip was successful and we brought
the passengers to their destination safely.” Restarting this trip will
make Iranians happy.
Mir Hassan
Mousavi, Iran’s deputy chief of passenger services, had earlier said: The
trains would be four-and four-way. It currently runs weekly between the cities
of Iran and Turkey, but if it is welcomed, it can be increased to two trains
per week and even daily.
He said
the train ticket price would be 43 euros for 60 hours and 20 euros for the trip
to Van for 22 hours. Traveling to Ankara, travelers will travel from Tehran to
Lake Van by Iranian train for three hours by boat and continue on the Turkish
train to Ankara.
